5991 - Supply of Rolling Stock Wheels and Axles

Iarnród Éireann (IÉ) are seeking to award a long term contract, to a single entity, for the supply of replacement rolling stock wheels and axles required to support the on-going fleet maintenance and heavy maintenance programs. This strategic contract will cover a variety of different fleet types and will require a focused and tailored contract management solution from the successful tenderer. All safety critical components supplied will be required to fulfil the requirements of EN 13261 (Railway applications - Wheelsets and bogies - Axles - Product requirements) or EN 13262 (Railway applications. Wheelsets and bogies. Wheels. Product requirements). In addition to the core requirement, IÉ require that the successful contractor to be qualified and capable of providing wheel pan, axle and wheelset technical support. Due to the strategic nature of the supply contract to IÉ, ensuring continuity of supply and meeting agreed delivery schedules will be of paramount importance. To manage this process, the successful contractor will be required to hold black stocks of both wheels and axles. IÉ also require that companies participating in the pre-qualification phase of the process can demonstrate that they also have the capabilities and experience in producing complete wheelset assemblies.
