The purpose of this framework is to provide expertise to Public Service Bodies to manage and optimise the purchase, deployment, maintenance, utilisation, and disposal of its software applications. The engagement of external Software Asset Management (SAM) expertise aims to make SAM a strategic, rather than a tactical, activity, focusing on: • Improving software compliance and the ability to respond to software audits; • Capturing all entitlements and consumption data; • Improving licence reconciliation to facilitate compliance remediation; • Increasing awareness and transparency of software initiatives; • Improving the efficiency or value of software negotiations and renewals; • Improving software licence optimisation; • Reducing shelf ware; • Better aligning software strategy and needs (current consumption and future demand) with business initiatives Software licence inventories that are regularly tracked and maintained will enable Public Service Bodies to accurately identify their most widely used software applications thus enabling opportunities for savings to be delivered.
