Phase 2 Wards/Theatre/A&E Extension Building

The works consist of a new building constructed next to the phase 1 existing emergency department block. The new block will provide for an A & E extension on the ground floor, Three ward floors to provide approx eighty three new single beds and operating department of five operating theatres on the fourth floor. Initally however only a partial fit out is proposed comprising two ward floors and part of the ground floor. Gross floor area of the proposed building including linking corridors is 8940 sq meters. There is an area of alteration to the existing hospital of approx 580 sq meters. Mechanical services shall include soils and waste, water services, air conditioning and ventilation, heating services with boiler room, building management system, natural gas installation, vacuum, oxygen and medical gas services. Electrical services shall include upgrade of the existing energy centre with new generator, distribution board and oil tank, new upgraded power distribution, site lighting, lighting and fire protection installation, communication and security services and fire fighting lift.
