The Schools Broadband Network provides centrally managed services for schools including broadband connectivity, security, anti-spam/ anti-virus and content filtering. Broadband connectivity is provided using a range of technologies.
Under the Schools Broadband Access Programme, the Department of Education (DoE), provides all primary schools and special schools (other than those included in the Post Primary Programme) with broadband connectivity via the National Schools Broadband Network supported by HEAnet. It is necessary to establish a new Framework of providers to ensure continuation of the programme.
