[DescrShort]

Diabetic RetinaScreen, the National Diabetic Retinal Screening Programme in Ireland commenced early 2013 offering free regular diabetic retinopathy screening for approx. 180,000 eligible people with diabetes aged 12 years and older. Around 180,000 participants per year are invited for regular digital screening (RDS) or Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) screening and it is likely this will increase to in excess of 200,000 people in the coming years. Since its inception, Diabetic RetinaScreen has provided over half a million eye screening tests. The programme has referred approx. 47,000 participants to hospital for follow up or treatment. To support the delivery of Diabetic RetinaScreen, the HSE is notifying the market of its intention to procure a suitably qualified photographic and grading service to deliver retina screening. This is not a call for competition. A Contract Notice will issue in due course to commence the procurement process.
