CIÉ is the national statutory authority which provide land public transport services in Ireland. It is wholly owned by the Government of Ireland and is organised into a Holding Company (CIE) which provides some shared services, including Accident Investigation and Claims Management, to the three operating companies Bus Átha Cliath (BAC), Bus Éireann (BE), and Iarnród Éireann (IE).
It is the responsibility of the Claims Investigations Department to investigate third party and employer liability accidents and claims, assess quantum and ensure the Holding Company and three Operating Company's carry adequate reserves to cover incurred and future claims and thereby minimise their and the Group’s exposure to financial risk.
