Bord Na Móna plc is a commercial semi-state company 95% owned by the state, originally established in 1946 to develop and manage some of Ireland’s extensive peat resources, in accordance with government policy at the time. Bord Na Móna plc lands extend to approximately 80,000 hectares in total and are located mainly in the Irish midlands. In 2011, Bord Na Móna plc published a ‘Strategic Framework for the Future Use of Peatlands’, which reviews and assesses the land bank resource, identifies key issues and considers options for future land-use. This strategy recognises that cutaway peatlands have significant potential for the development of wind energy as an integrated after-use.
On this basis Bord na Mόna Powergen Development Limited (the” Contracting Entity”) , a subsidiary of Bord na Móna plc, wishes to put a framework agreement in place with a number of service providers for the provision of Planning and EIAR professional services relating to the development of multiple ( a minimum of two) wind energy projects per year over the lifetime of the framework. It is proposed that the framework agreement is in place for a period of 4 years.
