Following a recent fire in one of the Contracting Authority’s UPS rooms, the Contracting Authority intends to appoint a suitably qualified and experienced contractor to upgrade the Theatre Department’s UPS / IPS systems.
In summary, the requirement includes the supply of the required UPS / IPS components, cleaning and painting, sealing and fire sealing and all other relevant small building elements necessary to restore the area in question. The electrical services installation shall include distribution, new electrical switchgear, cable support systems, cabling, lighting, small power, ELV services, fire alarm, fire suppression, security, I.C.T, mechanical (air conditioning), electromechanical, UPS, IPS and earthing systems.

Description of the procurement

Description of options:
Initially, the successful tenderer will be required to supply, install and commission required equipment. Following the expiry of a warranty period of twelve months’ duration, a support and maintenance contract of four years’ duration, involving the planned preventative maintenance of the installed systems, may be awarded as an option by the Contracting Authority. Moreover, the Contracting Authority reserves the right, upon the expiry of this support and maintenance contract, to award subsequent contracts governing the support and maintenance of the installed system, each of twelve months in duration, until the obsolescence of the system.

Justification:  
In accordance with Article 27.3 of Directive 2014/24/EU, the Contracting Authority is availing of shortened timescales in respect of this competition. The urgency associated with this requirement arises from the fact that the required equipment will be used in an acute hospital setting. On grounds of patient care, time is of the essence in respect of this competition.
