Met Éireann, the national meteorological service of Ireland, is planning to upgrade and modernise the national weather radar network over the coming years in order to enhance the quality and reliability of meteorological and hydrological services provided to the Irish public. An initial step in this process is conducting a scoping exercise to assist in the planning of the project.
Met Éireann seeks to commission “A Scoping Exercise on an Upgraded and Modernised Weather Radar Network for Ireland” and invites Tenders from suitably qualified economic operators.
The consultants will work with Met Éireann to specify the radar system requirements, to design the radar network and applications, and to provide a project plan, costs and expected timelines for the project.
The successful Tenderer shall at stated intervals provide comprehensive reports on the:
• Requirements, technology and strategic design for a modernised weather radar network in Ireland,
• Locations & network design, and cost benefit analysis for a modernised weather radar network,
• Review of training, capacity-building, collaboration, and research and development requirements associated with a modernised radar network,
• Overall requirements, recommendations to assist in defining subsequent procurements, costs and project plan for the implementation of a modernised weather radar network.
