2.Establishment of a Framework Agreement for Supply of Servers, Storage and Network Devices based on the three highest ranked Tenderers from 1 above.
The Authority has two very specific hardware requirements in the short term, as follows:
1.Upgrade of the Virtual Desktop Environment to support increased resilience and an increased user base. The strategy involves procuring new infrastructure for the primary environment and to move the aging infrastructure from the primary to the Disaster Recovery environment.
2.Expansion of the Route modelling Environment to support increased compute and storage requirements of the modelling team.

Description of the procurement

This competition consists of:
1. Award of the contract for Supply of Servers, Storage and Network Devices to the most economically advantageous tender based on the contract award criteria; and
2. Establishment of a Framework Agreement for Supply of Servers, Storage and Network Devices based on the three highest ranked Tenderers from 1 above.
The Authority has two very specific hardware requirements in the short term, as follows:
1. Upgrade of the Virtual Desktop Environment to support increased resilience (from 99% to 99.9%) and an increased user base (up from 180 to 250). The strategy involves procuring new infrastructure for the primary environment and to move the aging infrastructure from the primary to the Disaster Recovery (DR) environment. The requirement is described in more detail below.
2. Expansion of the Route modelling Environment to support increased compute and storage requirements of the modelling team. The requirement is described in more detail in below.
The on-going range of hardware products required will include:
• Servers;
• Storage Devices & associated peripherals (e.g. cables etc.);
• Network Devices & associated peripherals (e.g. cables etc.);
• Warranty; and
• Hardware Maintenance.
Below is an indicative list of envisaged project type work to be completed over the next 3 years.
• Infrastructure relocation to Cloud – re-location of the Authority’s Journey Planner and Real Time Passenger Information Systems to the cloud.
• Bus market Opening Systems – It is envisaged that the Bus Market Opening programme will lead to at least 4 new systems that will be hosted in the cloud.
• System Expansion – the Authority expects to expand the storage and compute infrastructure in early 2019 to accommodate new systems.
• Email – implementation of Microsoft Office 365 is expected in the coming two to three years
• Business Intelligence – it is expected that the Authority will deploy a more extensive Business Intelligence Platform.
