The Irish Lights Vessel (ILV) Granuaile is fitted with a ship’s automation system which provides UMS alarm monitoring, power management, engine instrumentation and tank monitoring and control. It is to be replaced with a system that incorporates the latest generation of hardware and features that will be robust, easy to use, easy to maintain and enhance the safe and efficient operation of the vessel.
The Commissioners of Irish Lights has a requirement to upgrade or fully replace the marine control, alarms and monitoring system on the vessel Granuaile. The vessel is 80 metre in length, Diesel electric dynamic positioning (type 1) with two azimuth propulsion units aft and one Gill jet type bow thruster forward. There are five MAN generator sets powering a 690V AC main bus and 400VAC auxiliary bus. The main functions of the system are alarm monitoring, engine instrumentation, power management, tank soundings and valve/pump control. There are 349 digital inputs, 153 digital outputs, 73 analogue inputs and 39 analogue outputs in the current system. A replacement system would require an additional 10% spare IO’s as redundancy. The upgraded system would have to meet all Class and Flag state requirements along with those detailed below,. The current system, CSI Control Systems
