Reference 2397 - Contract for the Supply of an Automated Blood Culture System

The Contracting Authority intends to award a contract for the supply, support and maintenance of an automated blood culture system that is designed to detect microbial growth from blood systems. The required system will involve ‘walk-away’ testing using a continuous monitoring instrument that agitates and incubates blood culture bottles, resulting in the early detection of positive cultures. The successful tenderer will be expected to recoup the cost of supplying the system through the sale of consumables to the Contracting Authority for an initial four-year period. Following the expiry of this four-year period, ownership of the system will pass to the Contracting Authority. Once ownership has transferred to the Contracting Authority, and as a recurring option that may be availed of solely at the discretion of the Contracting Authority, subsequent one-year contracts for the support and maintenance of the system and the supply of consumables may be awarded until the system’s obsolescence
