HSE Project 4059 - External Support for the National Audit of Admitted Patient Information in the Irish Acute Hospital Setting

The HSE wishes to engage external support to examine the quality of the HIPE system* with a strong emphasis on coding processes in the acute Irish hospital setting. The successful Tenderer must demonstrate knowledge of ICD-10- AM/ACHI (International Classification of Diseases 10th Revision Australian/Australian Classification of Health Interventions) 6th & 8th Edition, Irish Coding Standards and the operation of Irish acute hospitals (view hpo.ie). The scope of this audit should be broad enough to cover the following three areas: • quality of documentation in the chart; • quality of coding from the chart to the HIPE system and; • quality of coding process flow. (*Hospital In-Patient Enquiry (HIPE) system is the main national system for recording information relating to inpatient and daycase attendances at acute public hospitals in Ireland)
