Ulster Canal Restoration, Phase 2 (Clones to Clonfad)
Waterways Ireland is undertaking a pre-qualification process to assess the suitability of prospective tenderers for the main construction relating to the Ulster Canal Restoration, Phase 2 (Clones to Clonfad) works.
The following works are included;
• A new recreational water space (c.135m x 45m basin and slipway).
• Approximately 600m of new canal waterway (from Clones to the border between ROI and NI at Clonfad), including excavation and disposal of approximately 80,000m3 of soft clay and peat.
• Approximately 1.5km of new trails for walking/cycling.
• New public amenity area with services and parking.
• Infrastructure for tourism facilities.
• A new access bridge.
• Refurbishment of an existing masonry arch bridge.
• Water supply and architectural feature for canal water replenishment.
• Culverting of existing watercourses and land drainage system.
