Short description

NUI Galway proposes to undertake a major regeneration of the existing James Hardiman Library building (a protected structure) to fundamentally transform the library. The Architectural & Structural Feasibility Study undertaken by NUI Galway proposes a roof level extension to the existing building, and a large atrium within the existing structure. It is envisaged that the project will be required to be completed in several phases while the Library continues to operate. Description of the procurement

NUI Galway proposes to undertake a major regeneration of the existing James Hardiman Library building (a protected structure) to fundamentally transform the library. There are constraints on what can be done with the building due to its protected status. The Architectural & Structural Feasibility Study undertaken by NUI Galway proposes a roof level extension to the existing building, and a large atrium within the existing structure. It is envisaged that the project will be required to be completed in several phases while the Library continues to operate. Further details of the project are contained in the Project Information Memorandum published with the contract notice.
NUI Galway is seeking to appoint a Single Point Design Team (SPDT); comprising Architect as team leader, Civil & Structural Engineering, Building Services Engineering & Project Supervisor Design Process. The SPDT will operate as a single integrated team under a single appointment.
The project will be progressed in full compliance with the Capital Works Management Framework. The anticipated Total Project Cost has been estimated at €39 million; including VAT, fees, etc.
