Description of the procurement
The National Roads Office of Westmeath County Council are inviting submissions from contractors to prequalify through a Suitability Assessment Questionnaire in the First Stage of the restricted tender procedure for the Construction of the Athlone Cycle and Pedestrian Bridge over the River Shannon, Scheme 2 of the Whitegates to Athlone Castle Link. This pre-qualification is for the Construction of the Athlone Cycle and Pedestrian Bridge over the River Shannon which is a key component of the Galway to Dublin Cycle route which ensures a segregated cycleway crossing that provides easy passage and, critically, safe access through the town of Athlone which is seen as a halfway point along the proposed Galway to Dublin Cycleway. The proposed scheme incorporates a new cycle bridge across the River Shannon with approach access ramps along the river adjacent to the Radisson Hotel to the east and at the Luan Gallery to the west. The proposed bridge structure comprises a two-span bridge with a pier in the middle of the river and end supports on the riverbanks. Both spans are of approximately 52m in length. The overall length of the main bridge is approximately 104m. The proposed East ramp structure comprises an approach ramp to the bridge, landing, staircase, and a cantilevered walkway along the river. The length of the approach ramp is approximately 80.5m and the length of the walkway is approximately 101m. The landing and staircase are approximately 10m each in length. The proposed West ramp structure similarly comprises a main ramp, landing area, stairs, and a cantilevered walkway along the west side of the river. The length of the ramp is approximately 95m and the length of the walkway is 113m approx. In order to qualify for consideration each tenderer must submit the form QW1 SAQ, QW 3 SAQ and along with supplement QW1 3.4.1, QW1 3.4.2 and QW3 3.4.1 with all supporting documents and appendices attached to this tender.
