Short description
The Office of Public Works (OPW) is procuring Project Archaeologist services as an integral part of the flood relief scheme project teams from the earliest phases of design through construction and completion (excluding Cork City & County in the case of flood relief schemes), and of the arterial drainage maintenance teams nationwide (including Cork City and County). The Project Archaeologist will oversee the archaeological operations carried out by the Contractor’s Archaeological Consultant(s) on flood relief schemes and will liaise with the National Monuments Service over the course of construction. As part of the arterial drainage maintenance project team, the OPW Project Archaeologist will manage archaeological aspects of the projects and provide support on archaeological elements of the work as per Project Brief attached.

Description of the procurement
The Office of Public Works (OPW) is procuring Project Archaeologist services as an integral part of the flood relief scheme project teams from the earliest phases of design through construction and completion (excluding Cork City & County in the case of flood relief schemes), and of the arterial drainage maintenance teams nationwide (including Cork City and County). The Project Archaeologist will oversee the archaeological operations carried out by the Contractor’s Archaeological Consultant(s) on flood relief schemes and will liaise with the National Monuments Service over the course of construction. As part of the arterial drainage maintenance project team, the OPW Project Archaeologist will manage archaeological aspects of the projects and provide support on archaeological elements of the work as per Project Brief attached. Project Archaeologist services may also be utilised directly by Local Authorities across Ireland working in partnership with the OPW for the purposes of developing flood relief schemes in their local areas, where they are the Contracting Authority.
