Short description

DCC wishes to design and construct an ICW solution for Ballynacarrick LS. When preliminary design work is complete a Specified Engineering Works (SEW) Report must be submitted to the EPA for approval in order that the scheme may progress. A review of the current Waste Licence will also be needed.
The direct discharge arrangements will be key to securing EPA approval for the scheme. The design must demonstrate to the satisfaction of the EPA that the discharge from the treatment system ‘has no significant impact on the receiving waters’ (in accordance with Condition 6.4.1 of the Waste Licence).
The Council’s objectives for this project are as follows:
1. To obtain approval of an SEW for a proposed ICW for Ballynacarrick LS to sustainably and effectively manage leachate at the site;
2. Carry out detailed design and tendering for the scheme;
3. Construct an ICW and ancillaries;
4. Ensure that the proposed scheme represents value for money in terms of full life costs.
