Description of the procurement

UCC is seeking expressions of Interest from Works Contractors for Cork University Dental School & Hospital. The project consists of the construction of a new circa 8,975m2, Dental education and research building. The building will be primarily used as a dental school with ancillary education, research and innovation facilities including a central sterile services department, roof top plant enclosure and support service areas.
The building structure is a concrete frame with lightweight internal walls. The external elevation will consist of high-quality brick with vertical emphasis deep reveal windows on the east, south & west facade. The windows are anodised aluminium. Sections of the envelope will be a curtain walling system with flush joints incorporating opening sections. The roof is a single membrane on a RC structure.
Internally the building has lightweight internal walls and is subdivided into separate spaces to house the separate accommodations.
The flexible office space is arranged around a central circulation atrium and the main staircase. The interior finishes of the atrium will incorporate high quality brick to match the exterior.
The building is to be both naturally (mix mode) and mechanically ventilated/ heated and achieve a daylight rating. The project must achieve a BREEAM excellent rating and comply with NZEB requirements.
The siteworks includes for site preparation, a new access road (Phase 1, Stage 1 of the Precinct 2 Master Plan orbital road), a new surface carpark, new tarmac roads, new services which connect into existing services and a soakaway.
The development also consists of alterations to the site layout, access and parking arrangements for the Health Innovation Hub which was permitted under Planning Register Ref. Nos. 18/4921 and 15/6689.
