Short description

In the first instance, a contract of five years’ duration shall be awarded for the provision of twenty high speed electric drills, 166 attachments and a range of accessories, including all support, maintenance, repair requirements, the replacement of equipment as necessary and the supply of all sterile single use consumables. The Contracting Authority shall remunerate the successful tenderer for the provision of the required equipment through the purchase of sterile single use consumables only; the electric drills and all attachments will be provided by the successful tenderer at no cost and will remain the property of the successful tenderer.
Following the expiry of the initial five‐year contract term, and as a recurring option that may be availed of solely at the discretion of the Contracting Authority, subsequent one‐year extensions may be awarded until the obsolescence of the initial twenty neurosurgical drills.

However, the Contracting Authority shall have the option to procure any number of additional high speed electric drills it so requires over the currency of the initial five‐year contract, whether through an adjustment to the price tendered for sterile single‐use consumables or through the agreement of a capital purchase price.

Justification:  
In accordance with Article 27.3 of Directive 2014/24/EU, the Contracting Authority is availing of shortened timescales in respect of this competition. The urgency associated with this requirement arises from the fact that the equipment constituting the subject‐matter of this competition will be used in an acute hospital setting. On grounds of patient care, time is of the essence in respect of this competition.
