Short description

The N86 Lispole to Ballynasare Lower and Ballygarret to Camp Road
Improvement Scheme comprises two discrete sections which are
separated by a distance of approximately 18km.
(i) Lispole to Ballynasare Lower - approximately 2.7km in length.
(ii) Ballygarret to Camp - approximately 1.3km in length.
The cross section of the proposed road is a Type 3 single carriageway
with a one-way cycleway/pedestrian facility at each side. The scheme
comprises, for the most part, on-line widening/realignment, save for a
1.15km off-line section commencing at Garrynadur, which is required to
remove a particularly poor existing alignment, including a ‘hair-pin’ bend.
The lands affected by the proposed scheme generally comprise
agricultural lands, with some residential properties also located along the
scheme.

Description of the procurement

The works will include, but are not limited to, the following:
(I) Construction of approximately 4.0km of Type 3 single carriageway
with a one-way cycleway/pedestrian facility at each side
(ii) Construction of 8 junctions with local roads, and numerous private accesses
(iii) Construction of 2 machinery underpasses, 1 watercourse crossing and 2
retaining walls
(iv) Site Clearance (including demolition)
(v) Earthworks
(vi) Various Drainage Works
(vii) Widening / Rehabilitation / Replacement of 9 existing Culverts
(viii) Construction of various ducting and chambers
(ix) Diversions of existing services
(x) Pavement construction
(xi) Construction of various fencing and safety barrier
(xii) Construction of various signage and road markings
(xiii) Landscaping
(xiv) Construction of various accommodation works and all other elements
necessary for the successful construction and completion of the scheme.
