Single-Party Framework Agreement for the Refurbishment and New Build of the Stable Yard
The Curragh, Co. Kildare
Contract Phase 2 - Stable Yard: The overall works requirements are split into two
separate contracts.
Contract 1 involves the refurbishment of 76 existing stables. The extent of the
refurbishment works is dependent on the condition of the individual stable.
Applicants should note that there will be limited conservation works to a small
number of stables marked for refurbishment and this will require close
consultation with the project Conservation Architect. It is envisaged that Contract
1 will commence in November 2016 and continue for approximately 6 months.
Contract 1 must be completed no later than mid-April 2017.
Contract 2 will include the remainder of the works, namely, demolition of 60
stables, construction of 80 new stables (including tack rooms and a security room) and ancillary areas arranged in a courtyard layout, construction of a new machinery yard (including the dismantling and relocation of a portal frame) and provision of a fuel storage area. The works also include ancillary groundworks, landscaping and upgrade to the drainage system within the stable yard. It is envisaged that Contract 2 will commence in October 2017 with completion in March 2018.
Applicants should note that the whilst the works will take place during the off-
season for racing, the stable yard will remain operational and the successful
contractor will have to work closely with the racecourse management. A
neighbour‘s wayleave also runs through the stable yard site and this will remain
open for the duration of the works with a possible relocation of the wayleave to
cater for construction activity.
The site will remain live throughout the works. The neighbours wayleave caters
for the movement of a large number of horses on a daily basis. The stable yard
will also have horse, people and transport movement during the day due to the
schooling at the Curragh.

To be agreed with the successful framework operator.
A grouping, if successful, may be required to contract as a single entity having joint and several liability but subject to the agreement of the contracting parties. If it is proposed to sub-contract the delivery of any portion of any contracts under the framework, it may be a condition of award of contract that both main contractor and sub-contractor enter simultaneously into a collateral warranty with the contracting authority for the relevant portion of that contract.
