The CRO (contract research organisation) will perform an animal study to test the efficacy and safety of a pharmaceutical therapeutic under development in University of Galway (UG). The site must have expertise in the testing of intravitreal injections, the induction of a Retinal Vein Occlusion (RVO) in relevant animal models, handling of Dutch belted rabbits, safety analysis through retinal fundus exams and Intraocular Pressure (IOP) measurements, as well as imaging analysis of the retina including Optical Coherance topography (OCT) and Fundus Flouroscene Angiongraphy (FFA)/ Fundus AutoFlouresence (FAF). The site must have capability and capacity to source and care for rabbits post-operatively for up to 13 weeks in line with US or EU animal welfare guidelines and for the induction of RVO via intravitreal laser probe. The site must be able to give a competitive offering of in-study analysis, post operative organ collection, and histopathology to best evaluate the retina after study completion. It is expected the CRO will have ethics approval to cover the study.
