Grace O'Malley 2021 - Design & Supply of a Sculpture of Grace O’Malley – Grainne Uaile

Newport Business Association wishes to commission an artist to create a “life size” sculpture to commemorate the iconic woman, Grace O’Malley(Grainne Uaile). Newport has a long-standing historical link with the Pirate Queen, “Grainne Uaile”- Grace O'Malley. Newport Business Association now wishes to celebrate these strong ancestral connections. The Newport Business Association is undertaking to deliver this statue to promote Newport as the town of the “Two Graces”. This project will give Newport its own unique identity, therefore will increase revenue for the town in the form of increased tourism activity. The sculptures will be located in a prominent location in Newport Town, on the Westport approach road into town just off the N59. Pictures and location maps of location is included in the tender documents.
