Description of the procurement

School of Medicine or his/her designate on any recommendations arising for students who need special considerations in advance of their placement. Compliance with GDPR as the data controller for the service will also be required.
The School of Medicine at the University of Limerick offers two Paramedic Studies degree programmes with one catering to existing paramedics wishing to upgrade their current paramedic license to a bachelor’s degree and the other being for undergraduate students wishing to attain their Paramedic license and BSc award.
Paramedic Students at the School of Medicine are required to complete an occupational health screen and immunisation check in order to be deemed fit for placement. In the case of Paramedic students, the health screen includes an Occupational Assessment based on the standards of medical fitness to train for Paramedic students outlined in the HEOPS (Higher Education Occupational Physicians / Practitioners) guidelines.
The School of Medicine wishes to tender for an occupational health provider to provide a timely, efficient and professional health screen (and immunisation service if required) for the students before their clinical placement can commence. The School of Medicine also requires the occupational health provider to declare students fit (or not) for placement and to advise the Head of the School of Medicine or his/her designate on any recommendations arising for students who need special considerations in advance of their placement. This service encompasses the cost associated with the health screen and related requirements. Any immunisations required by the student in order to be deemed fit for placement are outside the scope of this agreement. Therefore, if the provider does provide (for instance if the student cannot access their GP) such immunisations, these will be provided as an additional direct cost to the student.

Description of the procurement

All School of Allied Health pre-registration programme students are required to complete an occupational health screen and immunisation check in order to be deemed fit for placement. We now wish to tender for an occupational health provider to provide a timely, efficient, and professional health screen and immunisation service for the pre-registration programme students before their clinical placement can commence. We also require the occupational health provider to declare students fit (or not) for placement and to advise the Head of the School of Allied Health on any recommendations arising for students who need special considerations in advance of their placement. The provider will also need to advise the head of School of Allied Health on best practice in provision of pre-placement occupational health services for a student population, including advising on any changes to HSE immunisation requirements for health workers. It is not required for the occupational health provider to provide immunisations for the students. If the provider does administer such immunisations (for instance if the student cannot access their GP), the additional cost will be paid to the supplier directly by the student
