Trinity College Dublin, the University of Dublin invites suitably qualified works contractors to pre-qualify for the Mechanical and Electrical/ICT Reserved Specialist Works Contractor Packages. The project concerns the construction works located at the University’s city centre campus. The contracting Authority intends to invite 5 candidates to tender for each specialist package, please note that the contracting authority reserves the right to invite at least 5, subject to the number qualifying.

Description of the procurement

The Mechanical Reserved Specialist works will include for the strip out of the existing mechanical services, and the provision of new heating, ventilation, heating, and cooling plant, with all works to be carried out within and adjacent to the Old Library and the Berkley Library (both listed as National structures on the National Inventory of Architectural Heritage). New public health systems including water services and drainage will also be provided. A new energy centre will be located under Fellows’ Square will house the central ventilation plant and water source heat pump. The heating and cooling requirements for the refurbished building will be met by a geothermal array located in Fellows’ Square.
The building shall be protected by a high-pressure water mist system installed separately by the Fire Suppression Reserved Specialist.
The winning tenderer will be appointed under the Main Contractor.

Description of the procurement

The Electrical & ICT Reserved Specialist works will include for the strip out of the existing electrical services from all areas of the site, and the provision of new MV cable infrastructure, MV switch board, MV/LV transformer, LV switch board and sub distribution boards, sub-mains distribution cabling, small power, lighting and emergency lighting, fire alarm, Fibre cable infrastructure, ICT data cabling, CCTV and security, electrical provisions to mechanical systems, lightning protection, and earthing.
A critical element of the Electrical Reserved Specialist works shall be the ICT installation. The works shall be delivered in accordance with the current Trinity Information Transportation Specification (including the Structured Cabling System Policy) and Requirements, and furthermore, will be delivered prior to the substantial completion of the overall main contract works, so as to enable the early commissioning of ICT systems (by TCD / others), to align with substantial completion of the whole of the works. As well as integration with the TCD ICT data network, ICT integration with TCD Wi-Fi, AV & CCTV campus networks will also form a key aspect of ICT installations.
The Electrical Reserved specialist will be required to deliver their works so as to co-operate and comply with the works delivery, site operations, health and safety policies and works programme delivered and managed by the Main Contractor.
The winning tenderer will be appointed under the Main Contractor.
