    Short description of the contract or purchase(s)

    The Next Generation Working Environment (NGWE) will provide for a substantial upgrade to the Defence Forces (DF) network encompassing all elements from the desktop to the data centre. Its aim is to ensure a modern, secure and flexible network that will allow the DF network to cater for the growing needs of voice and data. It will enable the flexibility to interact with and consume new data sources while enhancing the security and reliability of the network to ensure that the DF are proactive and not reactive to the organizational requirements so that DF users can continue to have a reliable infrastructure when required.

    1. Confidentiality, integrity and availability of DF IT services.

    2. Multiple services delivered to a single desktop device.

    3. Ability to deliver classified service to mobile devices

    4. Network convergence - Reduce Network infrastructure to reduce complexity and enhance security

    5. Dual DC design

    6. Enhance physical and Network Security.

    7. Desktop Devices (Thin Clients - Desk Phones)

    8. Ensure capability and interoperability of other significant projects such as software defined radio.

    9. Minimise energy use through efficient design and modern equipment
