Description of the procurement

The Contract relates to the translation, verification and return of fully completed translations of reports, policy documents, Government press-releases, website content, forms, general correspondence, titles and other short texts.
The successful Tenderer must be able to provide a high quality, accurate and professional service at all times and be familiar with the terms and terminology commonly used by the Department of the Taoiseach, and available on the websites tearma.ie, focloir.ie, and teanglann.ie. Consistency in the provision of a high quality-service will be a prime requisite for the successful Tenderer.
The successful Tenderer will prioritise translations as directed by the Department. While every effort will be made to provide as much notice as possible, we require that some material, in particular Government press releases, be returned within a maximum of three hours. Tenderers must confirm that they have the capacity to provide this kind of turnaround on a regular basis.
The standard practice of having draft translations checked by a second translator against the original English text and finally read independently of the original text, before being supplied (to the Department), should be adhered to. If the Department finds any errors in translations these are to be rectified free of charge.
There may occasionally be more than one assignment at the same time and the successful Tenderer must ensure they have sufficient resources available to ensure that all translations are delivered within the required time-frames.
Continuity of service will be required, during periods of illness, annual leave and absence, and during periods of IT systems’ failure, etc. Translations are to be supplied fully completed, and following the source-texts as regards script (i.e., bold and italic script as required), tables, etc.
