Description of the procurement

Expressions of interest are sought from suitably qualified consultant engineers for the design of a new footbridge at Culdaff, Co. Donegal
Donegal County Council propose to build a new footbridge adjacent to and downstream of St. Bodens road bridge which will improve the pedestrian routes within the village. The new footbridge shall be a minimum of 3m wide and will likely have a total span of over 30m with the potential for a central support. The footbridge shall have a similar rise to the existing road bridge and shall be designed for principally for pedestrian use and with the ability to accommodate future cycle use. The bridge will be highly visible in a town centre location and should be aesthetically appropriate for this location. Minimising both the construction and the future maintenance costs of the bridge will also be a key design consideration.
A new footway shall be constructed to connect the new footbridge to the existing footway to the north of the bridge approximately 15m and to the south of the bridge to the junction with the R238 approximately 40m. Consultants should note that there are a number of constraints that include utilities, land availability, Natura sites and foreshore requirements that will have to be considered as part of the design process.
