Description of the procurement
Lot 2 - infrared-microscopic platform that provides chemical information from the microscale to the nanoscale
System should employ QCL source to induce photothermal effects into a sample surface, which are measured using an atomic force microscope (AFM) for nanometre spatial resolution or a visible probe laser focused on the sample for sub-micron measurements thus bridging the spatial resolution gap between diffraction-limited, submicron and nanoscale IR imaging and overcoming the need for contact-based techniques like attenuated total reflectance (ATR) spectroscopy. The system should also provide simultaneous measurements of mechanical (e.g. stiffness) and thermal (e.g. glass transition temperatures) properties at the nano-scale.
