Short description

Irish Water is upgrading the Ringsend Wastewater Treatment Plant, which treats most of the wastewater arising in the Greater Dublin Area (GDA). The upgrade of RGD WwTP is based on the application of Aerobic Granular Sludge (AGS) technology (Nereda®). The capacity of the upgraded WwTP will be approximately 2.4 Million Population Equivalent (PE), with 1 PE assumed to be 60 g BOD/day. The upgraded WwTP is also to achieve compliance with the Urban Wastewater Treatment Directive (UWWTD). RGD WwTP treats 40% of Irelands public wastewater, bringing it into compliance is an objective for IW
The upgrade of the WwTP includes the construction of the 400,000PE Capacity Upgrade Contract (CUC), 6 No. Aerobic Granular Sludge (AGS) Nereda® advanced secondary treatment tanks. The element of the Upgrade Project is now operational. The project includes the upgrade of 24 No. existing treatment tanks with the AGS Nereda® process to provide advanced secondary treatment and nutrient reduction.

Description of the procurement

Irish Water is currently upgrading the Ringsend Wastewater Treatment Plant (RGD WwTP Upgrade Project), which treats most of the wastewater arising in the Greater Dublin Area (GDA). RGD WwTP treats 40% of Irelands public wastewater, therefore bringing it into compliance is a significant objective for Irish Water.
The upgrade of the WwTP includes the construction of the 400,000PE Capacity Upgrade Contract (CUC), 6 No. Aerobic Granular Sludge (AGS) Nereda® advanced secondary treatment tanks. The element of the Upgrade Project is now operational. The project also includes the upgrade of 24 No. existing treatment tanks with the AGS Nereda® process to provide advanced secondary treatment and nutrient reduction. To ensure the process performs as required the instrumentation for monitoring the process must be available and operating correctly.
After a public procurement process Hach was selected as the instrumentation supplier for RGD WwTP Upgrade Project. Hach instrumentation is currently installed in 22 of the secondary treatment tanks that are operating. Hach instrumentation will be installed in a further 8 treatment tanks over the following 2 to 3 years. The servicing and aftercare of this instrumentation is critical to ensure the treatment process performs effectively, thereby ensuring RGD WwTP achieves and maintains compliance in the coming years. This PIN relates to services, consumables and equipment required for servicing and aftercare of this instrumentation across RGD WwTP.
