Dublin City Council (DCC) is inviting Expressions of Interest from applicants wishing to tender for the complete works including the specialist works, to build a new White-Water Rafting Centre (WWRC) in George's Dock, Dublin 1. Panel specialists will be named in tender documents issued to short-listed applicants. The WWRC will consist of the white-water rafting course, swift water rescue training facility, kayaking and canoe polo pool and urban street scene including a new plantroom building. On the other side of the North Quays road to the Course and Plantroom, an existing Dublin City Council building along the River Liffey is to be demolished and replaced with two new Quayside Buildings.
The following Main Contractor works are required:
The works to Georges Dock include for the provision of a white-water rafting course constructed largely of insitu high specification concrete inserted within the existing Dock (approx. 100m x 80m). The intention is to create a central island with a canoe polo pool. A kayak & canoe conveyor, plantroom, pumping station, swift water rescue training centre and floodable urban street comprise the balance of the accommodation in the Dock. There is also conservation works (mostly cleaning and repointing) to the existing Dock walls.
Works to the Plaza (surrounding area) include the provision of a new plantroom building (footprint approx. 110m2) constructed with piled foundations and cavity masonry walls housing the motor control centre (MCC) and ESB substation. There is also siteworks including general landscaping, paving and below ground services.
On the other side of the North Quays road to the Course and Plantroom, an existing Dublin City Council building along the River Liffey is to be demolished and replaced with two new Quayside Buildings. Building West footprint is approx. 275m2 and Building East footprint is approx. 655m2. The buildings are constructed with piled foundations and a steel portal frame structure for shore-based support accommodation and Dublin City Council offices. There is also siteworks including general landscaping, fencing, balustrading, paving and below ground services.
