Short description

Iarnród Éireann (IÉ) has a requirement for a Civil/Structural Engineering contractor to carry out piling works along a section of track on the Dublin-Cork line. The location of the site is between 71mls 1735yds and 72mls 1560yds at Lisduff, Co. Tipperary This section of track is double line which serves passenger services between Dublin (Heuston Station) and Cork (Kent Station). The traffic along the section has a max speed of 90MPH.
The track bed has a soft peat formation which has resulted in problems with both vertical and horizontal track alignment. As a result of the poor track bed formation, a permanent 80mph speed restriction has been imposed on this stretch of 100mph line. Frequent tamping intervention is also required at this location to ensure that the track bed remains stable.
