Description of the procurement
The scheme is to provide a pedestrian and cycle link between Grange Road and Tramore Valley Park and includes:
The 5m wide pedestrian/cycle track is to be constructed on a constrained site through the existing woodland requiring site clearance and tree felling. To minimise environmental disruption the works construction must be restricted to the minimum footprint within the lands made available. Existing under/over ground services are to be protected. Existing foul and surface water chambers along the route are to be raised/lowered to suit new surface levels.
The pedestrian/cycle track pavement comprises a stone carpet on flexible surfacing on subbase. The pavement will be constructed on earthworks/vegetated and mechanically stabilised embankments along its length. Due to steep topography of the site 5no. ambulant disabled pedestrian/bicycle steps are incorporated into the track.
A 220m long pedestrian/cycle bypass track will be constructed at the southern end of the track on earthworks/vegetated and mechanically stabilised embankments.
Filter drains of various diameter shall be constructed along the track.
2 no. precast reinforced concrete box culverts shall be installed under the track to carry the pedestrian / cycle link over the existing watercourse.
The N40 pedestrian/cycle overbridge comprises a 2-span steel structure. The main northern bridge span over the dual carriageway comprises a 46.57m truss and 16m southern span comprises steel beams over the 1.8m diameter concrete Cork City and Harbour Watermain. The bridges substructure is reinforced concrete construction, founded on reinforced concrete bored cast in place piles. A concrete stairway to Tramore Valley Park is to be constructed at the northern end of the bridge.
The northern access ramp to N40 Pedestrian/cycle overbridge, 4m wide and approximately 120m long will connect the brideg to Tramore Valley Park.
Landscaping, permanent fencing, pavement markings and bespoke signage are required along the track.
