Short description
The 2021-2022 Children Sport Participation and Physical Activity (CSPPA) Study is being funded by Sport Ireland and the Department of Health and supported by the Department of Education.
Sport Ireland
Supported by the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media, Sport Ireland was established on 1 October 2015 as the statutory agency for the promotion and development of sport in Ireland. Increasing participation in sport and physical activity and facilitating research into sport are two of its statutory functions. This tender process is intended to contribute to the delivery of both of these functions.

Description of the procurement
Lot 1: Survey-Pupils and Teachers
A. Pupil Survey
Tenders will be expected to complete a primary and post primary pupil survey focusing on the three pillars of children’s organised sport as per RFT specification.
In addition unstructured physical activity should also be measured along with an overall robust measure for children’s daily activity levels including any active travel children undertake i.e. walking or cycling to and from school. The successful tenderer must ensure that the physical activity results are directly comparable with the data from the previous study but can also be related to data from other national and international research on children’s participation in sport and physical activity
B. Teacher Survey
The tender will also be required to survey one teacher from each selected school within the same time frames as the pupil survey. The survey will focus on sport and PE facilities. The selected tender will be expected to co-produce the survey in conjunction with Sport Ireland.

Description of the procurement
Lot 2: Subsample Data Collection-Accelerometers and Bio-Metrics
Utilising the same schools from Lot 1 a subsample of the students will be assessed to understand health and fitness levels.
Tenders will be expected to provide methodology on this process focusing on measurement roll-out with schools and data collection. Challenges and solution focused designs utilising accelerometers and collection of bio-metric data should be included.
