The scheme involves improvement to 1.4km of the existing N56 Four Lane Road in Letterkenny, Co. Donegal. The scheme upgrades an existing four lane road to an urban dual carriageway. The N56 Four Lane Road is in close proximity to the Lough Swilly SAC. This road is the main traffic artery to Letterkenny with an approximately 32,000 vehicles daily. The main element of the Works includes items such as; road and junction works, kerbs, footway and cycleway works, structural flood protection and cycleway works, structural widening parapet works, traffic signal and pedestrian crossing works, accommodation works, drainage works, site clearance works; earthworks, fencing and safety barrier system works; signage works; landscaping and planting works; New utilities and diversions of utilities including Eircom and ESB electrical utilities; and ancillary works
