Description of the procurement

The EPA Dublin Laboratory is seeking tenders for a discrete auto-analyser to carry out routine analysis of specific pollutants (including nutrients) in environmental water samples in support of the EPA’s Water Framework Directive and other monitoring requirements. These waters can include surface waters (river, lake, estuarine), groundwaters and waste waters and industrial effluents.
It is intended that the selected instrument should achieve the following objectives:
1) To carry out routine analysis of Ammonia, o-Phosphate, TON, Chloride, Nitrite, Nitrate*, True Colour, Alkalinity, Hardness, Hexavalent Chromium, and Silica in the above waters;
2) Future-proof the Agency’s needs in this area;
3) Fit within the existing laboratory space, utilities and usage patterns.
* In the current method Nitrate is calculated from TON and Nitrite
Approximately 3600 samples are analysed annually on our current discrete auto-analyser in the Dublin Water Laboratory using an analytical method that is accredited to ISO17025:2017. The instrument is operated daily. The EPA is looking for a replacement system capable of meeting or exceeding the performance characteristics of the methods currently in use. It is expected that the instrument will use the laboratory space used by the current instrument. The system itself should be capable of unattended operation.
The instrument will have a proven track record in water analysis. The operation of the instrument should be supported by a team of experienced engineers to a standard at least as good as the current support service provided to the EPA. It is envisaged that the system will be delivered, installed, and commissioned within a four week period.
