The proposed works comprise New Services including Diversions, Utilities, Attenuation & Subase formation for parts of Phase 1 of the Future Campus; approximately 3 hectares in total (part occupied by buildings, car parking, ancillary structures, paving and soft landscaping not part of this contract). The services installations will include Polyethylene, Clay & PVC pipework for Foul & Storm Water Sewers, Telecoms, Electricity, Watermains & Gas mains to serve new academic buildings. Excavation depths will range from <1m to c.5m deep, including connection to existing campus services infrastructure. Diversions  of MV Ring Main & 4‐bar Gas main including interface & coordination with utility providers,  approximately 400m of New & realigned access road sub-base, junctions, roundabout, traffic  management, planned shut‐downs, temporary works, earthworks, formation of paths, lighting   installations.

Description of the procurement

The proposed works comprise New Services including Diversions, Utilities, Attenuation & Subase formation for parts of Phase 1 of the Future Campus; approximately 3 hectares in total (part occupied by buildings, car parking, ancillary structures, paving and soft landscaping not part of this contract). The services installations will include Polyethylene, Clay & PVC pipework for Foul & Storm Water Sewers,  Telecoms, Electricity, Watermains & Gas mains to serve new academic buildings. Excavation depths will range from <1m to c.5m deep, including connection to existing campus services infrastructure. Diversions  of MV Ring Main & 4‐bar Gas main including interface & coordination with utility providers,  approximately 400m of New & realigned access road sub-base, junctions, roundabout, traffic  management, planned shut‐downs, temporary works, earthworks, formation of paths, lighting   installations.   The role of PSCS will include risk monitoring & mitigation, vehicular, cyclist & pedestrian traffic  management, phasing & sequencing, monitoring of no‐dig zones including tree protection & compliance  with all H&S requirements. Co‐ordination with other works contractors in the vicinity of the site will also  be necessary. Upon completion of the project the successful candidate will be required to deliver a fully completed Operations and Maintenance Manual (fully indexed, electronic version) incorporating a Safety File and as constructed drawings, BIM model (to level 2 coordination) for the as‐built situation.  The work will involve significant management & coordination with the University and their consultants as  well as 3rd party service providers.   The site is located within a live university campus comprising c.29,000 students and 3,500 staff. The works must have minimum disruption on the daily operations of the University. The applicant is required to demonstrate the capacity of its management personnel to deliver similarly complex projects in similar environments.
