Short description

The specification covers the Contractor’s requirements for the supply and delivery of material suitable for the construction of impermeable earthen embankments as part of the Morell River Flood Management Scheme. Where possible the material will be delivered to the site of the earthen embankment and deposited there. Alternatively, at the decision of OPW Site Supervisory Staff, the material may be deposited at designated stockpile locations.
A non-technical description of the required material is as follows:
A sub-soil material suitable for the construction of a homogenous earthen embankment. The material shall be an impermeable fine-grained cohesive soil, with a suitable moisture content that shall be capable of reasonable compaction. No rocks greater than 75mm in size shall be permitted in the soil. No organic material will be accepted.
