Short description

The Irish Defence Forces (DF) is preparing a tender for the purchase of a Biological Field sampling and detection unit. The requirement is for a man portable Unit/Units capable of rapid identification of unknown bacteria, viruses, fungi and protozoans presenting a potential bio threat. The Unit/ Units are intended for use with high level field CBRN IEDD, CBRN and EOD Units.
The information gathered in this market consultation will primarily be used to determine whether the functional and/or other requirements for the Field Detection unit can be met, if the program can be realised with the available budget and, therefore, if this program can be carried out in the way it was intended. As the list of requirements will usually not have been completed at this stage, the information of the respondents could lead to adjustments in the functional and/or other requirements. The information obtained may be used to identify potential technologies or product capabilities.
