Short description

The Irish Defence Forces (DF) is preparing a tender for the purchase of a Biological Field sampling and detection unit. The requirement is for a man portable Unit/Units capable of rapid identification of unknown bacteria, viruses, fungi and protozoans presenting a potential bio threat. The Unit/ Units are intended for use with high level field CBRN IEDD, CBRN and EOD Units.
The information gathered in this market consultation will primarily be used to determine whether the functional and/or other requirements for the Field Detection unit can be met, if the program can be realised with the available budget and, therefore, if this program can be carried out in the way it was intended. As the list of requirements will usually not have been completed at this stage, the information of the respondents could lead to adjustments in the functional and/or other requirements. The information obtained may be used to identify potential technologies or product capabilities.

Description of the procurement

The Irish Defence Forces (DF) is preparing a tender for the purchase of a Biological Field sampling and detection unit. The Unit/ Units are intended for use with high level field CBRN IEDD, CBRN and EOD Units. Before publishing this tender, the DF has decided to consult the market first.
The information gathered in this market consultation will primarily be used to determine whether the functional and/or other requirements for the Field Detection unit can be met, if the program can be realised with the available budget and, therefore, if this program can be carried out in the way it was intended. As the list of requirements will usually not have been completed at this stage, the information of the respondents could lead to adjustments in the functional and/or other requirements. Secondly, the information obtained may be used to identify potential technologies or product capabilities. The information obtained will not be used to draw up a shortlist.
You are not requested to provide highly detailed information or a concrete offer. The DF would appreciate your effort to provide some global information concerning the possible participation of your company in the future tender.

Background Requirements
The DF is planning a tender for the purchase of a Biological Sampling and Detection unit/units. The focus of this project will be the purchase of a unit/units with reliable and accurate instrumentation with the capacity to identify potentially dangerous pathogens in sample media such as swabs, liquid, soil and powders.
Description delivery and services
The possible future tender will (approx) contain a delivery agreement for:
The delivery of Biological Sampling and Detection Units, the provision of logistic support, the delivery of documentation, consumables and the provision of training courses.
Scope of Project
The scope of delivery will be approximately 16 to 25 units.
