Technical Services is responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of a building portfolio of approximately 320,000m2 of floor space and associated infrastructure. This includes the complete day to day and planned preventative maintenance of the University buildings and campuses portfolio. The buildings range from teaching and office spaces to high-tech energy-intensive, such as, variable volume air supply and extract fume-cupboard systems associated with research and undergraduate labs and other specialist areas. The successful applicant must be able to demonstrate their ability to provide an appropriate engineering-based solution which will consist of the technical skills, knowledge and experienced on-site personnel. Working with the UCD Technical Services Engineering Team, the successful applicant will also provide an appropriate site managed and resourced support structure with an engineered approach to maintenance problem solving and improvements.

In addition, maintaining and operating UCD building services in a safe, efficient, and environmentally responsible manner is a key goal of UCD. UCD utilises the ISO 50001 energy management system as a structured methodology to manage energy and water consumption within UCD. Note, Transfer of Undertaking (TUPE) may apply.
UCD is issuing this pre-qualification questionnaire inviting expressions of interest as the first stage of a two-stage process. The purpose of the first stage is to obtain information from the applicants to determine their suitability on the basis of financial capacity, technical capability and relevant experience to carry out the contract.
Suitable applicants will be shortlisted and it is envisaged that a minimum of the top five scoring, suitably qualified applicants (with a maximum of eight should there be equal scoring) will be invited to tender for the appointment to the General Building Maintenance Services Single Operator Framework Agreement as described in this document.
