The project involves the upgrading of approximately 4.1km of the N56 to a Type 3 Single Carriageway, typically with 2 x 3.0m carriageway, 2 x 0.5m hardstrip and verges of approximately 2.0 to 8.0m and 2.5m cycletrack, part of which utilises lengths of the existing N56 carriageway where the proposed alignment for the new carriageway is off-line.
The road scheme will comprise of both online widening and realignment, with approximately 2100m of the scheme being constructed off-line.
The project also involves pavement overlay of approximately 0.6km of the N56, with the construction of 2.5m wide cycletrack adjacent to the existing road.
