Description of the procurement
The construction of a single 750 linear metre carriageway road between the R613 / Ballea Road and the R611 / Kilmoney Road. The CWRR will start on the Ballea Road (R613), west of Church Roundabout (locally referred to as the Heron Roundabout), which is located at the northern end of Carrigaline Main Street. The proposed route will extend in a southerly direction over an existing restricted access road and redirect to the west, thus avoiding private residential properties in Nova Court estate. The CWRR will run along the southern boundary of Nova Court residential estate, before crossing over the Owenboy River, by means of a 32m reinfroced concrete river bridge. After the river crossing, the road level rises and will continue south to join with the Kilmoney Road (R611), west of Cogan’s Corner at the southern end of Main Street. Current land-use within the CPO lands primarily comprises Greenfield lands; however residential properties and brownfield sites (former Carrigaline Pottery Building / Tyre Centre) are located in the northern portion of the proposed CWRR route. Pedestrian and traffic lights will be placed at the north, south and central junctions to facilitate the safety of pedestrians and cyclists. The route also crosses the Owenboy River south of Soccer Club Road by means of a new 32m bridge structrue. The Owenboy River (proposed Natural Heritage Area 001990) is a narrow estuary running west to east from Carrigaline to Crosshaven. The project also includes the completion of the partially completed Soccer Club Road, the installation and diverting of varous utilities, site clearance, reinforced concrete retaining walls, piled retaining walls, culverts, drainage, public lighting and traffic signals. The Project also includes the construction of two foul water pump stations.
