Description of the procurement

UCD is seeking submissions from suitably qualified parties to undertake, programming of space, laboratory and science facility planning and design services for the UCD Science Community. The services will also include brief refinement and provisional design services relating to Science Phase 3. This programming knowledge (Stage 1) will allow the University to plan its infrastructural requirements for the medium to long term in the areas under study (focus Schools and Buildings detailed below). This will include Schools, Colleges, Units and buildings where there are no immediate plans for physical expansion, however this programming and space-related data (outside of the UCD Science Centre envelope) will allow the University to plan for future spatial requirements and potential further development of Science and Applied Science infrastructure in the University. The secondary part of the work (Stage 2), using information and data gathering in Stage 1 will focus on Science Phase 3 which is a refurbishment and expansion of the UCD Science Centre. The successful tenderer will work with UCD stakeholders to develop initial high-level expansion and redevelopment options to for Science Phase 3 (refurbishment and new-build area project) and to refine the initial draft brief for the project (included with tender documentation for reference). This early planning, scoping and brief refinement phase will allow UCD to identify opportunities at an early stage and to leverage the investment to deliver best value for the University and stakeholders. Selected tenderer will also be requested to develop a basis of design report, proposing adjacencies, stacking, heights and massing for the proposed Science Phase 3 development and digital renders and imagery to communicate the vision as required. Please note that the focus of this and related documentation/procurement process does not relate to the selection of an integrated design team for Science Phase 3. A separate procurement process will be run separately for an integrated design
