The successful tenderer will be appointed by Sligo County Council as a Dog Warden for the purpose of the Control of Dogs Act 1986 and as an Authorised Officer for other relevant legislation on award of contract. It is also envisaged that the Warden will be authorised under the Control of Horses Act 1996 and subsequent bye-laws. This will be for the purpose of investigating complaints relating to stray horses. However it will not involve handling or seizing horses as this work will be done by a specialised contractor.
