Short description
At present a requirement exists for Husbandry Services for a 4 year period to be provided at the Marine Institute’s Marine Research site in County Galway. The Marine Institute requires a Husbandry Services Contract to provide the following services: Stock Husbandry, Recordkeeping, and Contract Management.
There may be periods during the 48-month contract when there are no fin fish stocks on site and the services may not be required or reduced. No monthly payment will be made to the contractor when Husbandry Services are not required. The Marine Institute will give the successful applicant 1 months’ notice of any destocking of the site and 1 months’ notice when restocking. The Service Provider must have the capacity to meet the Institute’s Husbandry service requirements when the fish are on site. The cost of the services should be calculated on a monthly basis to allow for this situation

Description of the procurement
The Marine Institute requires a Husbandry Services Contract to provide the following services:
Stock Husbandry to include:
• Daily surface visual inspection of Lehanagh Pool site to include licensed structures, nets, moorings and feeders
• Daily recording of Environmental Parameters on site.
• Hand feeding of finfish stocks and service of automatic feeding units.
• Assist with net changes as required and carry out routine repair net repair and maintenance.
• Assisting researchers with onsite sampling for batch weights, sea lice inspections and research projects.
• Mortality removal using an Up Lift system and/or assisting divers.
• Assist Marine Institute staff with Treatments to be carried out as required.
• Ensure that all Health and Safety Standard Operating Procedures are adhered to.
• Adhere to relevant biosecurity standards
Recordkeeping to include:
• Stocking and feeding records to be updated daily and weekly reports to be provided electronically to MI in an agreed format.
• Record of daily environmental parameters stored electronically and provided to the MI on a weekly basis in an agreed format.
• Recording of all Treatments carried out.
• Record of Health checks/visits carried out. The MI will have its own appointed Vet carry out regular heathy checks on the stocks on site.
• A Marine Institute approved electronic record system for the storage and use of Chemicals and medicines.
• Site visitors log.
Contract Management
• Personnel undertaking the work will report directly to the tenderer who will liaise with the Marine Institute Section Manager and the Aquaculture team and/or Site Manager on a regular basis (at least weekly) to ensure all deliverables are met and that the work is being delivered to an appropriate standard.
