An Garda Síochána (AGS) radar speed-measuring devices that transmit unmodulated continuous-wave (CW) microwave energy, monitor the reflected signal from moving vehicles within the microwave beam, and process the Doppler shift of the reflected signal to display the speed of the vehicle that is being tracked. AGS are seeking three distinct models to replace the existing estate of devices, which number in the region of 400. The models will allow a number of distinct activities by the different units within AGS. The three models can be broadly defined as; Personal Mobile Handheld Device, range up to at least 600m Personal Mobile mounted Device, range up to at least 1,000m Unit Based Mounted Device, range up to at least 1,200m
