Short description
Includes;
•Contractor design & construction of approx 35km of new watermains
at various locations throughout Co.Galway including Loughrea, Dunmore, Glenamaddy, Kilkerrin & Moylough
•The watermains will range from 140mm OD (125mm DN) to 400mm OD (350mm DN)
•Contractor design & construction of an approx 1,000m3 Storage Reservoir
•Approx 5no. pressure boosting stations
•Decommissioning of 5no. existing WTPs
•Installation of chlorine monitoring & boosting stations
•Adjustments to existing water distribution networks to facilitate the operation of the enlarged Tuam RWSS
•The transfer of existing connections to the new mains as necessary
•Works will take place across and in close proximity to protected structures at several locations and to Special Areas of Conservation
•Contaminated land may be encountered during the works
•Heavy traffic conditions are expected at several of the proposed works locations
•The works will involve crossings of existing motorways, railways & rivers

Description of the procurement
Irish Water plan to undertake the construction of
approximately 35km of new watermains in Galway
County, Ireland together with associated booster
pumping stations, storage reservoirs, chlorine
monitoring and boosting, and ancillary works to
facilitate the extension of the Tuam Regional Water
Supply Scheme to surrounding areas.
It is intended that the works will be implemented
under Irish Water’s Major Works Civil Engineering
Contract.
