Short description

To provide a modern high standard Dog Pound Facility for Wexford County Council and to run the service in relation to maintaining a pound with around 20 kennels available to cater for the impounding of 800-1,000 dogs per annum and all that is entailed. This includes caring for the dogs, looking after their welfare and veterinary needs, providing proper veterinary care (registered vet) micro-chipping, vaccinating and euthanizing dogs (only where necessary RTAs, very sick dogs sheep kills and dogs involved in attacking people etc.). Proper feed and nutrition for dogs on a daily basis, cleaning and disinfecting the Pound kennels. Exercising the dogs. Dealing with the public in terms of reclaiming dogs, re-homing dogs and liaising with Wexford County Council Dog Wardens and co. Vet. The specification in relation to the Dog Pound Kennels, equipment and the level of service required is set out in Appendix 1 of the RFT document.
